sail away to stiltsville

Hosted by GMCVB

The unique and historic Stiltsville – a true Miami icon – is a fascinating cluster of colourful houses built in the middle of Biscayne Bay, with an equally colourful history: think gambling, rum-running and mob-filled, all-night parties in the 1950s.

We can’t take you back in time, but we can let you explore this extraordinary landmark while it’s still standing tall: rising sea levels and other natural disasters mean it may not be around forever.

Only accessible by boat, you’ll hop on for a guided tour, an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of South Beach. Oh, and for those interested in tracking the elusive “Space Invader” mosaics, you’ll get a perfect view on this intimate tour.

written in the stars

Hosted by The Standard Spa, Miami Beach

The Standard Spa, Miami Beach is less a “hotel” and more a spa with guest rooms set amidst peaceful tropical gardens with a hydrotherapy playground that focuses on health and wellness. Bottom line: if you have to go home, you’ll leave feeling better, calmer and more grounded…

Join The Standard’s resident Astrologer, Lori Bell (aka The Good Witch) for a deep look into the cosmos: and what the future is bringing your way based on your personal chart. Enjoy some cocktails and bites afterwards at Lido Bayside Grill, plus take home your very own set of Planet Standard astrology cards to do your own readings at home.

EXPERIENCE THE EVERGLADES

Hosted by GMCVB

Handle baby alligators and turtles; explore breathtaking sawgrass trails; and discover the rich history of the Everglades from experienced guide Rev. Houston R. Cypress – a poet, environmental activist, ordained minister and founder of Love the Everglades Movement.

Part of the Miccosukee tribe – the original inhabitants of the area – Rev. Houston R. Cypress will take you on a wild airboat ride through its grand open areas, sawgrass trails, hammocks (or tree islands) that have been passed down through generations of the Tigertail family.

coral gables architectural tour

Hosted by GMCVB and the Miami Center of Architecture and Design

A planned Mediterranean Revival-inspired city just south of Miami, Coral Gables is often dubbed ‘The City Beautiful’. Join this enthralling walking tour to discover why (while catching the city’s signature rays – win-win).

Led by docent Jose Estevez, AIA, longtime South Florida resident and chair of the MCAD Tours Committee, this 90-minute wander will highlight Coral Gables’ most Insta-worthy spots, each with a fascinating story to tell.

Bring your swim gear, gorgeous – if time permits, you’ll have the opportunity to take a dip in legendary landmark (and the only pool on the National Register of Historic Places) the Venetian Pool. The largest freshwater pool in America, it features two waterfalls, grottos and is quite possibly the chicest place to take a swim.

rescuing the reef

Hosted by Kimpton Angler’s South Beach

As part of a “citizen science” effort, Kimpton Angler’s South Beach is helping to re-establish the area’s endangered coral reef population. And now you can be a part of the magic, too.

Dive, snorkel, or stay dry on the boat – the choice is yours – as you discover an underwater world off the shores of Miami Beach. Take in offshore skyline views and (Biscayne Bay’s stunning blue waters) as you enjoy learning while at sea – and tuck into a chef-curated boxed lunch, snacks, and beverages. If you’re diving or snorkelling, all gear will be provided – and if you are pursuing a diving certification, this rescue mission will help count towards any required dive time.

make your mark on wynwood wall

Hosted by Uma House by Yurbban South Beach

Wynwood Walls are perhaps the most iconic art hotspot in Miami. And now, courtesy of Uma House by Yurbban South Beach, prepare to explore the district through fresh eyes…

…in a whistlestop tour that encompasses the area’s lesser known and smaller streets, its fascinating history, and constant evolution as it responds to gentrification. After your art education, you’ll be whisked away to a graffiti masterclass, where you’ll learn a mix of basic and complex skills from a street art pro, from how to hold and handle a spray can to creating a colour gradient.

Creating art is an intense process, so you’ll then head up to the Uma House rooftop for a well-earned sparkling wine, appetisers and live music. Oh, and Uma House will also throw in a free gift to take home, too…
